New poem of the month is published!

I would like to let you know that a new poem for May is already published. I must admit I surprised myself by choosing a rather sad poem, I don't know why but I found it appropriate for such a beautiful and dangerous season as spring, the time of life and death... You can find it here. If you know a bit of French you will notice how the English version differs from the original.

  1. Wow I see some differences between the English and the French. Shows how much better it is to read poems in the original.
    It is a sad subject.

  2. I know but somehow I found it fitting. Silly me.

  3. I agree, the soft lush spring day absorbing a freshly killed soldier is fitting--my daffodils bloom for so few days.

  4. Thank you Jane. I am not alone in my madness. ;) Poor daffodils!

  5. I know a bit of French... but ONLY a bit. I used to answer my French teacher sí instead of oui. :P Oops... wrong language.

The poem was very sad. Time for renewal, I suppose.

  6. Dear Melissa 'si' is also a French word. You can use it instead of 'oui' if somebody asks you a negative question (like: don't you like ice-cream?)and you want to emphasize that the opposite is true (so: I do like it).

Spring is about renewal but "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose".

  7. Sad, but very beautiful.
Rimbaud is the one who gave up poetry and lived in Ethiopia for years, escaping from everyone 'I is someone else' - Paul Theroux mntions him several times in Dark Star Safari.

And I love the photo of Lily of the Valley - I have some in my garden, by the pond.

  8. Thanks for the comment Tracy - I know he was against wars and this poem reflects his attitude. Lilies of the Valley are lovely but toxic.

  9. ¿Que? ;)
All romance languages have plenty of similarities. You won't surprise me with your Spanish. My answer to that one is :rien du tout ;)

  10. LOL wasn't trying to trip you up... just demonstrating where my brain goes when faced with another language other than American English. The only other one is ASL, but I can't exactly demo that one. :D

Yes, you can. Post a vid! :D

I love learning languages so I always rise to the bait. Sometimes I don't even need a bait - an eager beaver that's me.
