I decided to start a new meme. From time to time, not every Monday, I am going to post some of my fav songs using of course YouTube. I hope you will like them as much as I do. Today is the first: a bit more optimistic than my poem, to keep everything in balance. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Nat King Cole in 'Smile', written by Charlie Chaplin. Enjoy! The lyrics are below:
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile.

Those are true words to live by. It's funny how a smile really can perk up your day. However, sometimes putting that smile on is so much harder than it should be. Love the song!

I quite agree, Jen but this song was written by a man who had a very rough life and certainly knew how hard it is.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good song - and Nat King Cole has such a wonderful voice.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'll join in - I have crap taste in music - but I hope your day is better today!
Tracy it's up to you but I would be delighted if you joined at least once. I thought I had the crappiest taste in music, so totally out of fashion. ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea :) I do love songs
ReplyDeleteThanks Blodeuedd I am glad you like the idea. I hope you will join one week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you day is so much better. Nat King Cole... Great choice for a day like that! I love his voice.
ReplyDeleteLaugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great song.
How is it possible to have a better day when we are having a sudden snowfall at the begining of May? Imagine these all green trees and flowers covered by roughly an inch of snow...:( And it hasn't stopped yet.
ReplyDeleteWe had one of those last year. Things recovered. The native plants did anyway.
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches thinking of it but I hope most of plants will recover too. Still there were plenty of broken boughs of my favourite lindens.
ReplyDeleteAh, Lindens, a sacred tree of the ancestors. Let us pray they recover.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly hard to go wrong with such a classic song and singer for that matter!
ReplyDeleteZombies are for May! Morbid Romantica Challenge links are up for Zombies along with a few book ideas. Some I myself will be trying out! Stop by and let me know which Zombie book I should be reading!
