Lovely colour - I love spotting orchids in the wild - a friend has a field which is rich in wildflowers and we go looking for orchids every summer(and I too read The Orchid Thief several years ago).
I have some photos of the extremely rare and protected Lady's Slipper orchid. Some friends on the East Coast have a cottage that is surrounded by trash and rusting cars and an amazing abundance of the orchids. So tempting to dig one up but I knew they would only die if I did.

Oh yes, they are such delicate creatures and the wild ones are really better off when left to their own devices.
