What were they thinking?

Now, have a look at this cover:

What have you noticed? Can you say what this book is about? Could you see the title? No? Let's consult the blurb then:

Look at the cover again- what would you think this book was about? Gardens? Gnomes? Gardens and gnomes? Dogs? Country live? No. It is a romance story. Go figure.

ETA: Apparently the publishers are laready thinking of changing it. Wise move.

But I would think it was about an old lady living at a mansion, and she takes up boxing, lol

I would think it was about a peaceful country life of a pair of elderly ladies loving books dogs and gardening!

It is an awful cover. The title definitely is not reflected in the scene unless the dogs are sparring too.

I would have thought something whimsical and charming. So I'd probably read the blurb meaning they accomplished that much with the cover. However, I wouldn't read the book so they haven't reached their audience. Marketing 101 needed for whoever made that cover decision.
