Finnaly I got the Alexia Tarabotti series by Gail Carriger. It seemed like ages but I decided to be very patient. I know, I know, back to vampires and werewolves but let's give the series a chance. I quote from the first part, "Souless", chapter one, which opens as follows:
"Miss Alexia Tarabotti was not enjoying her evening. Private balls were never more than middling amusements for spinsters and Miss Tarabotti was not the kind of spinster who could garner even that much pleasure from the event. To put the pudding in the puff: she had retreated to the library, her favourite sanctuary in any house, only to happen upon an unexpected vampire."
How can you not like her?

An unexpected vampire? Now there's something you don't run into every day in the library. :D
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
I read this one! Really enjoyed Alexia's character. My teaser is werewolf too although more on the horror side - http://www.eleristone.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYeah, you gotta watch out for those unexpected vampires. They can really kill the mood of a library in a party.
ReplyDeleteLove the entire series, but especially this book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my teaser!

Hi everybody, thanks for visiting and commenting!
ReplyDeleteI never find vampires in my library :(
ReplyDeleteAagggh! More vampires! (is there such a thing as an unexpected vampire these days?)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a quote I read in Stephen Fry's "Stephen Fry in America". He said his choice was simple: either he'd spend the evening was a party with the "in" crowd of New Orleans with two beautiful woman he'd met, or reading a book alone in a motel room.
ReplyDeleteIn the next paragraph he said, "The book was splendid. I hope the girls enjoyed their party."
Smellincoffee thanks for the quote! Well I suppose I myself would rather spend my evening with a book than going to a party so I do understand Stephen Fry.
ReplyDeleteTracy your question is valid but keep in mind the fact that these books are set in the times of Queen Victoria....
Brooke I am sure one day you will meet a vampire in your library. I only hope the meeting will be more profitable than the one described. Our heroine was forced to kill the vampire - he was too rude to survive as he ruined a plateful of treacle tart trying to attack Miss Tarabotti. And they weren't even introduced properly! ;)
I do appreciate your comments!
I would have gone to the party. :-) The book will always be there.
ReplyDeleteVampires are ubiquitous this days. It is that fear of death thing.
Being Miss Tarabotti you wouldn't have gone to the party - nobody would ask you to dance and nobody would talk to you, a spinster without any perspectives and wealth. And the book will always be there, true but it is somebody else's library and you might not be invited the second time!
